Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet)

The latest version of the Linux distribution Ubuntu 15.04 called Vivid Vervet has been launched by Canonical. They claim to have over 25 million users worldwide. Wich can be concluded as the popular open source operating system has increased in both consumer and businesses and governments usage.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of the Systemd component. This is not directly visible to users but immediately after starting the Linux kernel the Systemd active component starts various services and daemons. The open source software component consists of several utilities that optimize the launch process and services as a replacement for the old Init mechanism, which formerly Ubuntu had developed as its own upstart alternative and was implemented since Ubuntu 6.10.
After Debian chose to replace the Systemd init daemons in 2014 and succeeding Linux distributions like Fedora, Mageia, Frugalware and openSUSE now using this software is now also folowed for Ubuntu by Canonical.
The simultaneous launch of services and daemons is praised by the proponent, partly because it the boot process primarily on desktop PCs can be shortened. The old Init starts because of its static design after the previous process runs next beware.
The Linux kernel also has been upgraded for Ubuntu 15.04. However, Canonical has not yet implemented the 4.0 kernel and selected version 3.19.3. Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical however, has indicated that he expects the 4.0 kernel at the next release in October with the release of Ubuntu 15.10 will be present.

Upgrade Ubuntu 14.10 to version 15.10
To upgrade on a desktop system:
- Open the "Software & Updates" Setting in Systemsettings.
- Select the 3rd Tab called "Updates".
- Set the "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" dropdown menu to "For any new version".
- Press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager" (without the quotes) into the command box.
- Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '15.04' is available.
- Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.
To upgrade on a server system:
- Install the update-manager-core package if it is not already installed.
- Make sure the /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades is set to normal.
- Launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
